SYNOPSIS: This story colourfully portrays the life of a bumbling teacher, St. John Quartermaine, and his colleagues at the struggling Cull-Loomis English Language School in Cambridge. It's the early 1960s and this quintessentially English gentleman is as much a part of the school's furniture as the blackboards and chalk and rubbers. But while Quartermaine is completely absorbed by school matters, never quite managing to make an impact, his colleagues are gossiping about their varied and exciting lives. As their humourous trials and tribulations are shared between the group, Quartermaine finds himself increasingly bewildered by the whirlwind of life beyond the staffroom--resulting in some painfully funny situations.
